Before you go and see a watch repairer, you need to check the warranty for your watch. Many watchmakers will offer around 1 to 3 years of warranty. Problem is, a lot of these 'luxury' watch manufacturers are really really slow when it comes to repairing your watch and sending it back to you. I know one guy who has an Audemars Piguet Shaquille o' Neal edition (it's around $40,000); it stopped ticking, he sent it back, and it took them SIX MONTHS to repair it. And soon after it stopped working again. When you're paying that much for a watch, this kind of experience is pretty horrid. I have found that many watch repairers in Houston do a far better job at repairing watches than the actual manufacturers do. That's because a professional watch repairer absolutely must do it properly to maintain their reputation and not have angry customers. A manufacturer like AP can afford to treat their customers badly and still do well. They've become like the ferrari of watchmakers.
